Dr. MEHMET SALİH OSMANOĞLU (1921 - 2019)
Dr. M. Salih Osmanoğlu was born in 1921 in İnebolu as the child of a family of İnebolu origin. He attended primary and secondary school in Samsun, as his father transferred his lumber business to Samsun. Later, after his father passed away in Samsun, they returned to İnebolu as a family.
He completed his high school education at Kastamonu Abdurrahman Pasha High School in 1940. After graduating from high school, he entered Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine and graduated in 1946, both by working and studying. He completed his military service in Mardin Mazıdağı and his compulsory medical service as a Government Physician in Küçükkuyu town of Çanakkale's Ayvacık district.
Later, he came to Istanbul and specialized in Internal Diseases at Haseki Hospital between 1953 and 1957 and continued to work successfully in the same clinic as the Chief Assistant for many years. He went to Germany to increase his professional knowledge and experience. After returning to his country, he became one of the first physicians to apply Liver function tests and Liver needle biopsy.
In 1957, he opened the Private Laleli Diagnostic Clinic, which he had dreamed of for a long time. He resigned in 1965 from his duty at Haseki Hospital, where he was loved and worked with great success. They established Nişantaşı Laboratory, one of the first modern laboratories in Istanbul, in 1966 with his classmate Prof. Dr.Suat Vural from the Faculty of Medicine.
Aksaray Vatan Hospital, Turkey's largest private hospital with 200 beds, was built as a hospital from the ground up and established in 1974.
He donated Laleli Diagnostic Clinic to Kızılay in 1981. In the same year, Istanbul Şişli Private Osmanoğlu Hospital was put into service. Osmanoğlu Hospital is the Doyen of Turkish Medicine, Dr. It continues to serve in line with the high ethical and humanitarian principles of M. Salih Osmanoğlu.
A true İnebolu lover, Dr. Mehmet Salih Osmanoğlu established the İnebolu and Its Environment Health and Education Foundation in 1972 in order to serve İnebolu, which he loved very much. Through this foundation, he brought works such as Nursing Home, Health Center, Dormitories for Girls and Boys, Primary Schools, Jam Factory, Mehmet Bülent Özyörük Regional Primary School and Girls' Student House to İnebolu. It has also given educational scholarships to many students. She donated the Nezihe Battal Culture House, named after her mother, to the Foundation. Dr. M. Salih Osmanoğlu was awarded the "Outstanding Service Medal and Certificate" by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in a ceremony held in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on July 10, 2008, in return for the charity and services to which he devoted his entire life.

Dr. M. Salih Osmanoğlu and his wife Fatma Nesrin Osmanoğlu lived a happy life for 60 years. From this marriage, Prof. Dr. Two girls named N. Arzu Osmanoğlu Seven and N. Esra Osmanoğlu Söylemezoğlu were born; has four grandchildren. Dr. Mehmet Salih Osmanoğlu passed away on 15 June 2019 in Istanbul Şişli Osmanoğlu Hospital, which bears his name.
