EMG is a research method referenced to diagnose, confirm the diagnosis, determine the severity of dysfunctions in the peripheral nerves or structural damage, monitor the disease process and evaluate the effect of treatment. It is performed by a physician. EMG; is performed during the diagnosis of nerve injuries (nerve cuts, traffic accidents etc.), nerve compression (carpal tunnel syndrome, etc.), diagnosis of neck and spinal disc hernia, examining effects of diseases (such as diabetes, kidney disease) that may impair nerve functions, diagnosis and monitoring of facial paralysis, diagnosis of muscular and nerve-muscle junction diseases (myasthenia, myopathy, etc), diagnosis of myelopathic diseases (ALS, polio, etc.) ongoing with myolysis.
